China's industrial profits surged 14 percent year-on-year in April as global trading activity gained momentum.

Industrial profits rose to 572.8 billion yuan in the preceding month, according to the National Bureau of Statistics. The figures compares with an increase of 23.8 percent in March and an 8.5 percent gain in the same period in 2016.

Production in China's manufacturing sector is hot due to the stronger global trade and investment, enabling producers to have better control of their prices. The country's exporters are also taking advantage of the strong demand amid worries of a global economic slowdown in the longer term.

Industrial businesses' debt ratio declined to 56.2 percent at the end of April, edging down by 0.6 of a percentage point from the previous year. Meanwhile, industrial profits jumped 24.4 percent to 2.28 trillion yuan in January-April. NBS said that out of the 41 industries, 38 saw an improvement in profits compared to last year.
