European stocks surged Monday, as retail shares were recuperating following it experienced a selloff in the last trading session.

The FTSE 100 opened at 7,518.30, up 0.8%. Consumer goods stocks, as well as oil and gas stocks spearheaded the gains of all sectors. Last week, the index halted its four-day decline.

The Stoxx 600 gained 0.79% as all sectors and major exchanges trailed the positive territory. The French CAC index increased as French leader Emmanuel Macron's party gained the majority in the parliamentary polls.
