The Bank of Japan on Friday said producer prices in Japan rose an annual 0.6 percent in July.
That fell short of expectations for an 0.8 percent increase. That was also down from the revised 0.7 percent rise in June.
Leasing rental and employment prices rose while advertising costs fell.
Producer prices advanced 0.3 percent monthly in July from June, when it fell 0.2 percent.
