European shares continued its losing streak Tuesday as risks set in despite a political upheaval between Qatar and other Gulf nations and as investors await the ECB's meeting and Britain's election this week.
The Stoxx Europe 600 index stood at 390.30, down 0.4%, on course for its lowest close this week. The DAX 30 index traded at 12,767.75, down 0.4%. It was closed Monday due to a public holiday in Germany. The CAC 40 opened at 5,284.59, while the FTSE 100 was at 7,509.35.
Most sectors are moving south. The healthcare sector was the worst performer in early trades after news that Roche's clinical test led to only a slight benefit for women with a certain type of illness.
Although it began as one of the worst performing stocks, Banco Popular managed to bounce back afterwards. Banking shares lost 0.4% as traders do not believe the ECB will shift its monetary policy.
