Taiwan's unemployment rate dropped unexpectedly in June, though marginally, the Directorate General of Budget Accounting and Statistics, or DGBAS, reported Monday.
The seasonally adjusted jobless rate edged down to 3.68 percent in June from 3.69 percent in May. Meanwhile, the rate was expected to rise to 3.71 percent.
In the corresponding month last year, the unemployment rate was 3.77 percent.
The number of unemployed declined to 437,000 in June from 438,000 in the preceding month.
The labor force participation rate edged up to 58.97 percent in June from 58.96 percent a month ago.
On an unadjusted basis, the jobless rate for June was 3.70 percent, up from 3.63 percent in May.
