Malaysia's economy expanded at a faster pace in the third quarter, data from the Department of Statistics showed Friday.
Gross domestic product rose 6.2 percent year-on-year, faster than the 5.8 percent increase seen in the second quarter. GDP was forecast to grow 5.7 percent.
On a sequentially basis, GDP advanced 1.8 percent versus 1.3 percent in the preceding quarter.
On the production side, the service sector expanded 6.6 percent following 6.3 percent a quarter ago. Manufacturing sector growth improved to 7 percent from 6 percent.
Agriculture sector rose 4.1 percent after registering a growth of 5.9 percent in the previous quarter.
