The volume of positions on a currency pair specifies a total amount of assets invested in the pair by both its buyers and sellers at the moment. The indicator provides insight into current market saturation. As the indicator reflects the quantity of lots, rather than the quantity of trades, it shows the actual market size.
Much like the number of trades, the volume of positions indicates interest of traders in a certain currency instrument. An increase in the volume of positions on a certain currency pair means the likelihood of a new trend. A decline in the indicator marks waning interest in the currency pair and is regarged as a precursor to a sideways movement.
