One of Russia's leading metals and mining companies, Mechel, said it has posted a third quarter net loss of 2.8 million roubles ($43 million), compared to a profit of 8 billion in the previous quarter.

Mechel also noted that its third-quarter core earnings totaled 15.9 billion roubles, slightly higher quarter-on-quarter from 15.7 billion roubles in the second quarter due to a recent uptick in prices for its products.

Company revenue fell to 66.2 billion roubles from 68 billion in the last quarter.
