1MDB reiterated it was not connected to a US civil lawsuit filed the US Justice Department, adding it has never been approached in links to the said case.

Malaysia's state fund stated Friday the lawsuit does not outline any appendices with testimonies or documentary evidence to back the claims by US officials.

Previously, American authorities claimed over $4.5 billion was embezzled from the state fund by public officials and its partners. They are seeking to recoup another $540 million worth of assets linked to the state fund.

1MDB has repeatedly denied allegations of wrongdoing.
