Wages in Australia increased in the first quarter of 2011 by 0.8 percent over the previous quarter, according to data published Wednesday by the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
Compared to one year earlier, wages were up 3.8 percent.
The figures do not include bonuses, and are seasonally adjusted.
Both figures were slightly below the estimates of most economists.
Private sector wages excluding b onues were up 0.9 percent on quarter and 3.9 percent on year.
Public sector wages were up 0.8 percent on quarter and up 3.6 percent on year.
Wages including bonuses were up 0.9 percent on quarter and up 4.1 percent on year.
