The yen surged higher against other major currencies in Asian deals on Friday after the Bank of Japan decided to retain its interest rate at 0.1 percent and increased its asset purchase fund by JPY 40 trillion.
The yen rose to new multi-day highs of 88.48 against the franc, 80.50 against the US dollar, 130.27 against the pound and 106.30 against the euro.
