Asian stocks were mixed Tuesday as market players await the MSCI's decision on whether to include mainland Chinese shares, even as the US dollar bolstered.
Currently, this is China's fourth attempt to have its A-shares listed in the MSCI Emerging Markets Index. The index provider will unveil its decision this week.
Japan's Topix added 1%, rising for third consecutive trading sessions. The Nikkei 225 climbed 1.1%, touching its new 22-month peak. South Korea's Kospi gained 0.03%.
Hang Seng index rose 0.05%. Shanghai and Shenzhen stocks went up 0.02% and 0.383%, respectively.
